Ophthalmologist consultations

We visited our telemedicine centres in Donetsk, Kharkiv and Kherson regions and had 253 patients. People received examinations and consultations, prescriptions for glasses and eye drops as needed.

The vast majority of patients had glaucoma, cataracts and other age-related eye diseases. There were situations when the patient only found out about the problems and the need to perform an operation urgently otherwise he may lose his vision.

In addition, the doctor taught local nurses to measure intraocular pressure with a Maklakov tonometer. After the mission, we purchased tonometers for the telemedicine centres so that the nurses could independently measure the patient’s intraocular pressure in the future. Patients can consult an ophthalmologist to monitor and adjust the prescribed treatment if necessary.
